Robert is a British citizen who after gaining a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Sussex, Brighton, England attended the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst where he was granted the Queen’s Commission as a British Army Officer. After a serving as a professional soldier on a number of active service assignments, Robert left the Army and completed a Master’s degree in Psychology and gained an additional qualification in cognitive behavioral psychotherapy (RET) from the University of Bielefeld, Germany.

Prior to joining Novartis, Robert gained substantial national and international experience in the area of Human Resources, Change & Talent Management and Organizational Development with Aventis and Pfizer where he also gained an additional qualification as a 6 Sigma Black Belt.

In 2006 Robert joined the Novartis HR Organization in Basel, Switzerland and has since then held local and global roles of increasing levels of responsibility in many areas of HR in Technical Operations (Production & Manufacturing), Development (R&D) and Commercial Operations (Marketing & Sales). In addition Robert held the role of HR India Coordinator.

As Head HR Switzerland, Robert moved to Rotkreuz, Switzerland in 2012 where he was tasked to create and lead a cross divisional HR team. In January 2015 Robert returned to Basel and was invited to join the Novartis HR Executive Leadership Team to create and lead the Global Diversity & Inclusion function, which has a clear focus on customer orientation through more innovation in business.
