Equality today in the Kanton of Zurich

Over the past 40 years, there has been a lot of movement in terms of gender equality in Switzerland and the canton of Zurich. The actual equality of man and woman is still not a reality.

The indicators of the most important areas – education, unpaid work, employment, reconciliation of work and family life, wages and policies – continue to call for action for all, in the spirit of the diversity policy.

16:15 – 16:35  From counting diversity to measuring inclusion:

How People Analytics can help the D&I agenda

Syngenta recognizes that human diversity is as important as biodiversity and is committed to fostering a diverse workforce and an inclusive workplace. Using people analytics to help drive the D&I agenda, our journey has taken us from counting diversity to measuring inclusion. With both qualitative and quantitative approaches, we are building a comprehensive way to understand D&I at Syngenta and identify areas for targeted actions.

Diversity & Inclusion is at the forefront of all our analytics work and we strongly believe in expanding the definition of diversity, one that includes nationality, tenure, generation, and other demographics. We take this lens to everything we do in order to foster a culture that embraces difference in all its forms, where people feel they belong and can be the best version of themselves.

We will present our global strategy and approach, and then share how this strategy is being implemented in our Global Healthcare Operations unit, which comprises 7000 employees across 18 sites.

Aviation is the business of freedom, but in 2020 the freedom to travel, to meet people, to reconnect families, and to be with our loved ones was suddenly taken away.  With it went millions of jobs in the industry; pilots become Amazon delivery drivers, Cabin crew became care givers in temporary hospitals, and airports were empty!  As we start to rebuild the industry its an opportunity to build back with diversity at the core of what we do.

Speaker's Biography

Deborah Croft

CEO

THRIVING TALENT

Event Chair

Deborah passionately believes implementing career & caring as a human capital strategy is critical to nurturing inclusive cultures and accelerating gender equality. The COVID pandemic has amplified the need for organisations to create ecosystems which enable employees to better integrate their caring responsibilities (be it self-care, caring for children, ageing parents, community members) and career aspirations.

Too often, professionals believe that they have to choose between personal and professional commitments, leading to either visible or invisible attrition. New ways of working are necessary to empower individuals to navigate life transitions and hold on to career goals.

Deborah and partner Natalie Wilkins merged their businesses in 2016 to form Thriving Talent, to drive positive, sustainable change. Their delivery team is a diverse group of certified coaches, consultants and trainers (in addition to their other roles as mothers, fathers, teachers, home makers, taxi drivers, negotiators... ).

Deborah has over 27 years of international experience in project and change management, coaching and training, with the latter 5 years also consulting on Inclusion & Diversity strategy.

Much of Deborah’s time today is spent exchanging with organisations who are committed to improving ways of working and measuring the impact of the interventions provided by Thriving Talent.

The most sustainable business results are achieved through people. That’s been my experience from a range of industries, including oil, gas and aviation. As an HR professional, my mission is to be the magic that inspires people to succeed, and I have a track record of doing just that. Whether designing programs for the attraction and retention of talent at all levels or managing learning initiatives that foster both leadership and technical growth, I am able to create a strategic vision, inspire others to follow and successfully execute it in highly competitive and demanding environments
In 2019, I established an ambitious target for Diversity & Inclusion for the aviation industry, paving the way for many airlines to join us for a positive change
